Speaking of an indoor game, the first one that comes to mind is Mah-jong because Vm a mahjong addict1. You know, it’s probably the most popular board game2 in China. The most recent time I played mah-jong was during the Spring festival holiday. It’s kind of a tradition for me and my friends to have a mah-jong day during the holidays. It’s an absolute must3 to keep us occupied4

Anyway, on the third day of the Chinese Lunar New Year5, I called three friends to come to my house to play mah-jong because the game takes four players. Some people use mah-jong to gamble but we never do that. We usually just play mah-jong with tokens6. The basic rules are pretty simple. The winner is the one who gets a mah-jong7, which consists of getting all 14 mah-jong tiles8 into a certain combination. I was blessed that day9 and won a lot of rounds. We had a deal10 that the one who lost the most would treat the other three guys to a meal. So I won myself a free meal that day as well.

We had a blast playing mah-jong. It’s really a wonderful way to blow off some steam during the holiday with my friends and it’s also a great bonding experience for us. Plus, when we play mah-jong, we also need to think hard to outsmart11 our opponents, which helps us improve strategic thinking12 as well. So mah-jong is definitely my favorite indoor game.
