I’d like to talk about a time I watched the sunrise at the top of a mountain. It was two years ago
during the New Year holiday. At the time, several friends and I decided to climb Mount Tai and watch
the sunrise at the top15 on the first morning of the year.
As I said, the place we went was Mount Tai, which is one of the most famous tall mountains in our country. We started climbing the mountain at midnight and reached the top at around 5:30 a.m.. It was
so thrilling to climb the mountain at night, and I was tired to the bone16 when I got there. But in order to see the first rays of sun of the New Year17 and make a New Year’s wish, I had to pull myself together18.
We waited for exactly two hours because it was pretty foggy19 that day and although it was already 7 o’clock, the sun was still not in sight20. Then, it suddenly cleared up21 and the sky was finally lit up by the sun22. When the first rays of sun came out, we were all excited and happy as a clam23.
As for my feelings, well, to be honest, I felt extremely cold and tired. At some point24, my eyelids25 got so heavy that I almost fell asleep. But when I saw the sunrise, I felt the effort was worth it. I was stunned by the breathtaking views. I guess I saw a beautiful view that most people won’t see in their whole life.
