The most recent time I got to know a new friend was last October. My friend Lisa invited me to come over to her home for her birthday party. She actually called a bunch of besties to have a meet-up at her home.
Among the girls there, there was a girl called Anna. That was the first time I met her. When Lisa introduced us to each other, she seemed very shy and quiet. So we just exchanged hellos259. Later when we had dinner, I happened to sit next to her and we had a funny chat about a popular costume drama260 which follows the life of Emperor Yongzheng. Anna had a lot to say about this Emperor. She said the Emperor9 s lifestyle was similar to that of an Internet celebrity today. She related the lifestyles by talking about how both an internet celebrity and the Emperor faced a lot of gossip. You know, I never thought that there could be any similarities between such different kinds of people. So I really liked her for her unique ideas and humor.
We talked a lot at the dinner table that day and I found we have a lot in common261. So before the party was over, we friended each other on WeChat262. Now I can say Anna and I are buddies. I seek out263 her opinion on whatever’s going on with me and she always gives me a genuine advice. So knowing a friend like her is really a dream come true264.
