Well there are countless kinds of things produced in my hometown, Chengdu, but when it comes to a local specialty348 there, the first one I can think of now is rabbit head. It?s a kind of very unique snack in our hometown. I’ve been eating it all my life. As far as I know, rabbit heads are only popular in Chengdu. And this food will blow your mind.

As its name suggests, it’s literally made of the head of a rabbit. It looks a little creepy349 at first glance350 After all, it’s a skinless351 rabbit head so you can see the whole skull352 I believe some people won’t even dare to try it.

But it tastes like food made in heaven353. I mean, it’s one of the tastiest foods I’ve ever tried. People in Chengdu usually cook rabbit heads in two flavors, five spices354 and spicy. I prefer the spicy ones. In Chengdu, you can often see street vendors355 selling them and you can also buy them from deli shops356. A lot of tourists say they are totally amazed by it after the first bite357.

Honestly, people in my hometown consume tons of rabbit heads on a daily basis. And most tourists love it as well. I believe it’s a part of the culture here. I can’t tell you why exactly rabbit heads are mainly popular in Chengdu but it’s a one-of-a-kind358food in China.
