56.选工作或专业的建议(高考结束选择大学专业的时候,在数学和计算机两个专业上摇摆不定, 我咨询了经常会给我很多很好建议的舅舅,他帮我做了深入分析,最终我决定选择计算机专业。) Well… the first one I can think of is the advice I got from my uncle about choosing a college program1.
At the time, I had just gotten my results from the college entrance exams and I was wracking my brain2 trying to choose the proper program for my college application. I was swaying3 between two programs, applied mathematics and computer science. I can hardly say that I was a straight A student in high school, but honestly, I have a knack for math. And I was quite into computer programming. So it was hard for me to make a wise decision. ^
Before I made my final decision, I consulted my uncle. He’s a college history teacher. Sometimes I seek out his opinion on whatever’s going on with me and he always gives me genuine advice. After he heard my situation and choices, he analysed the pros and cons4 of the two programs and the future opportunities I might have. He suggested that mathematics would be helpful if I was aiming to do academic research5 for a living in the future. But if I wanted to build a career related to business, computer science would be my best bet6. After all, jobs related to computer science are usually high-paying occupations7.
With my uncle’s help, I decided to study computer science as my major. I have a lot of passion for my major so far. I’m really grateful to my uncle for his in-depth analysis8 and advice. They really helped me make up my mind9 and make the right call10.
