2019年9月-12月雅思口语Part 3 Topic 8 早起的经历

1. What are the benefits of getting up early?

There are definitely tons of pros to getting up early. The first one that comes to mind is having more time throughout the day. If you’re up and ready early in the morning, you can get a lot more done than if you sleep in until noon. So it’s great for work. You can check so many things off your to-do list. I also believe getting up early can give you more energy. Sometimes you can be tired from oversleeping102.

2. What kind of people usually get up early, why?

I guess people who are super busy get up early. They have tons of work to do, so they have to make the most of their time103. That means waking up at the crack of dawn104 so they have as much time as possible in a day. I also think people who have to take care of young children get up early. Since younger kids don’t sleep in105, their parents have to be awake early to take care of them.

3. Who sleeps longer, young people or old people?

I suppose that young people sleep longer than old people. For one, their bodies might still be changing, which requires a lot of rest. For another, young people are a bit lazier than old people. They don’t mind sleeping the day away106. They also tend to be busier than old people, so they need rest whenever they can get it. Old people get to retire and just hang around107, so I don’t think they need to sleep for as long.

4. Is it good to work till late at night?

I don’t think it’s good to push yourself to extremes108. So ideally, you shouldn’t be working late into
the night109. And you shouldn’t necessarily be up at the crack of dawn to start working. If you do either
of those things, you’re probably going to tire yourself out. You might end up getting anxiety or something bad like that. For people who do night shifts110, they should definitely sleep during the day so they don’t push themselves too far.

5. Is it good to take a nap during the day?

Well, as long as you don’t make a habit of it111, I think that it’s good. If you’re running on fumes112 and need a break, then a nap during the day can help you out. It’ll recharge your battery113 and allow you to keep working afterwards. A lack of rest can ruin every aspect of your life, so it’s good to catch a wink of sleep114 when you can. But if you nap all the time, you might become lazy.

6. What effect does sleeping in late have on a person’s life patterns?

I suppose that sleeping in late mostly has bad effects. For one, it’ll probably make you really lazy. If you don’t get up and go115, you’ll just laze around the house all day. Or if you sleep in late and miss work, you’ll start to get a bad reputation and might even lose your job. It’s really important to be punctual. Sleeping in late can also make you a disorganized person. It’ll definitely throw you off your game116.
