2020年5月-8月雅思口语Part 2&3 Topic 23 学过的学科

  • Describe a subject you studied in the past
  • You should say:
  • What the name of the subject was
  • Why you enjoyed studying this subject
  • How hard you studied this subject
  • and explain what it was that you like most about this subject

I’d like to talk about physics which is my favourite subject in high school. Physics is an essential subject in Chinese 9-year compulsory public education system. Every Chinese student has to study it Most of my classmates had no interest in studying physics.

I enjoy studying this subject because my physics teacher is a nice person who’s warm-hearted and helpful. His office door was always open to his students. He believes that no one should be left behind, not even the naughtiest, and rebellious student. His lessons were full of fun. He was very good at explaining the theories and formulas of physics. He also told us how the physics knowledge would be helpful for the rest of our lives.

Sometimes I found it challenging to understand the abstract definitions and image the experimental phenomena. My teacher would take us to the physics lab, help us do simulation experiments and patiently explain how things work. Thanks to his help, I have learned numerous things of physics from some fundamental theories like the basic definition of gravity to the elaborative explanation of the Theory of Relativity.

Physics is a useful subject, though it has nothing to do with my profession. It opened my mind and explained some interesting things, like why the sky is blue, how gravity works, and why the world goes round, sort of stuff. Studying physics means trying to find out what the universe is made of, and how these things move and interact with each other. It’s quite exciting and beautiful, isn’t it?

Part 3

1.What kind of subjects are useful for everyone in their future?

Well, all the basic subjects, for example, maths, the mother tongue language and science, are very important from everyone, because in this knowledgeable society, people need to have some common sense about the world they live in, otherwise, it will be very hard for the illiteracy to survive.

2.I know you guys learning English since you were young, why you study English?

English is an international language, and many countries in the world use English as their lingua franca. If we can speak English well, we will have more opportunities to communicate with the outside world and introduce China to other countries.

3.When you could choose subjects on your own? Why?

I chose subjects from my own interests in my high school. We could choose biology, geography, physics, history, politics, chemistry or other interesting subjects. The education department decide the time, we have no choice. Well, I guess that because in high school, students begin to think about their future job and realize what they are interested in.
