As an artistic person, I like writing and taking photos. I’m not professional though, I still enjoy recording and expressing the unique details in my life. But sometimes, the images in my mind can only be shared by words, so I want to learn painting to show something in my imagination more vividly.

The best way of learning something specialized is to attend some courses and follow teachers¹ guidance. I don’t think it would be easy because I don’t have any foundations of drawing and have heard from my friends that drawing takes much time from observing the angle, shape and location of objects, at the same time, taking the light and proportion every factor occupies into account to make the composition reasonable and understandable in a sketch. Then it will come to the phase of drawing something abstract.

Painting, including the mix and match of colors is another barrier I have to overcome. However, I believe those skills and principles are useful not only in paining, but also in my life, such as decorating home and dressing up. It’s said that there’s no boundary between various kinds of art, thafs true indeed.

In order to realize it as soon as possible, I will save my pocket money to afford the tuition and search some information online to select a good art school.

1.What are some new skills that people nowadays would like to learn?

Some people prefer to learn new sports skills, for example, playing table tennis, go skiing and diving. They find it could be exciting and it would help them exercise at the same time. Some people prefer to learn a new instrument, for example, playing the piano, playing the guitar and maybe play one kind of traditional Chinese instruments.

2.What kinds of skills are difficult to learn?

I think nothing is difficult if you are interested in that and are willing to spend time on that. The old saying goes that practice makes perfect and we all know the 10,000 hours theory which points out that 10,000 hours of practice results in what we would be considered as a master.

3.What is the most important skill in modern society?

I think social skills are the most important in the modem society. It would be used everywhere, from students in schools to staffs in companies. For example, listening skill is very necessary for groupwork and communication. We need to listen to others opinions and learn to summarize the main ideas.

4.What kinds of professions that require many different skills?

I think kindergarten teachers require many different skills. As I have some friends who work as kindergarten teachers, they need to learn how to sing, dance and play instrument. Besides, they need to learn how to take care of babies and how to deal with a class of screaming kids.
