I would like to talk about my cousin, Jane, who helped me to achieve my goal of entering a top university. It dates back to the time when I was in high school. I was having a hard time wrapping the head around my junior high school maths, which kind of stopped my steps into top universities. In contrast, Jane had always been a good mathematics student and took advanced mathematics at the university.

She believed in me and motivated me to study mathematics well, and she even offered to tutor me. She met with me once a week for about an hour to go over the subject. She aimed to introduce me to solve problems with basic operations, like addition and multiplication, and how to think about simple real-life problems using mathematics. At first, it was slow going, but, as it happened with her, an understanding of the concepts began to dawn on me.

After a few months, I was turning into a math whiz（优等生） .In the end, with the help of excellent math, I got a high score in the college entrance examination, getting admitted by a famous university. I would never have reached my goal without her encouragement and tutorials. I was proud and happy I was taught by her and grateful I had such an excellent mathematics teacher.
