雅思口语Part 3 坏掉的设备

1. What are the common home appliances that people use these days?

I think the most common home appliance is the refrigerator. However, more and more people have been buying washers and dryers to make laundry a breeze. In the last few years sweeping robots have become very trendy too. I even have one of these amazing appliances, because it makes life a breeze.

2. Do you think modern technology makes people lazier?

In a sense, yes. However, I think people are much busier these days, so they don’t have time to accomplish things people used to. For instance, sometimes, I spend about 30 minutes at home, not counting sleeping. This doesn’t give me the time I need to clean everything. So, my sweeping robot helps to pick up the slack.

3. What can people do to protect their equipment from technical problems?

One of the best things to do is keep your tech devices away from food and drink. One spill and you can fry your computer in no time flat. You should also invest in cyber security. This will help protect your computer from internal problems that you can’t see. Exterior protection like cases and screen protectors are important too.

4. When an electronic item of yours does not work, do you repair it or buy a new one?

I always try to get my device repaired before investing in a new one. This is especially true if I haven’t had the item for long. However, sometimes it is easier and cheaper to replace the item. For instance, if my phone breaks then it is typically time to update my device anyway. So, I recycle it and start fresh.

5. Are you good at handling problems on your own?

I have always tried to stand on my own two feet, so solving problems has become second nature. Every now and then I will ask advice. I usually take the advice into consideration and then deal with the problem by myself. This allows me to take more pride in myself.
