Titles normally used for people are:
Miss [ mis ] —for a single woman
Mrs. [ ‘misiz ] —for a married woman
Ms [ miz ] —for either a single woman or a married woman
Mr. [ ‘mists ] —for a man
Dr. [ ‘dokta ] —for a doctor
Titles like Mr., Ms., and Dr. are usually not used when you say the person^ first name only. You might call Mike Freeman Mr. Freeman but not Mr. Mike. The title Ms. is used for either a single or a married woman. Use Ms. unless a woman tells you she prefers Miss or Mrs.
